Aboriginal Language Flash Card App
The Northern Territory Library (NTL) in conjunction with Groote
Eylandt Linguistics, AIRemote Pty Ltd and Disparity Games have
developed a flash card language app called NTLanguages - Anindilyakwa. The app
comprises 20 everyday words and phrases in Anindilyakwa and English. It was
developed by NTL’s i-Stories
program from a community need identified by local Groote Eylandt
linguists.Designed as a bilingual literacy tool for people of all ages in Groote Eylandt communities, as well as English speaking workers and visitors to the Groote Eylandt region, the app enables positive interactions between local language speakers and English speakers. The app will also be useful to children and adults in other parts of Australia with an interest in Aboriginal languages.
The versions are for iOS – iPhone and iPad and Android - phone and tablet, – for Windows and Mac. The links below will take you to the appropriate site to download the app at no charge:
