Friday
17 October 2014 is Loud Shirt Day, a day which celebrates Deaf children.
With
the support of the Miller College Student Association, the Miller College
Library will be organising a cake stand on Loud Shirt Day from 12:00 pm to 1:30
pm near the Music sculpture. There will be cake pops, brownies, cupcakes,
cheesecakes and more!
All
funds raised will go directly to the Shepherd Centre, a NSW organisation that
helps Deaf and hearing-impaired children develop spoken language skills.
The Shepherd Centre was founded in 1970 with just five families, and is
recognised as a leader in the field of Auditory-Verbal Therapy. The
support they provide costs the Centre more than $18,000 per year per child, so
please come along to the cake stand and give generously.
Wear
your loudest shirt, bring along your appetite (and wallet!) and we’ll see you
then!
